PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a document carrier device improving reading performance by carrying a document in high precision. SOLUTION: This document carrier device is furnished with a document carrier passage to carry the document to a paper discharging tray part from a paper feeding tray part through a reading position, temporarily stops carriage of the document or changes carrying speed of the document and has a carrier means furnished with a second driving roller 20 to carry the document carried by a separation/carrier means from the paper feeding tray to the paper discharging tray through the reading position and a second contact member free to elastically make contact with it, the second driving roller 20 is formed so that a roller body 60 made of a rubber type elastic body is fitted to integrally rotate, an inner peripheral surface of the roller body is arranged to face against a reading surface of the reading means, and a constraining member 61 to restrain torsion due to elastic deformation of the roller body 60 in the circumferential direction in carrying the document is mounted on the second driving roller 20.
