PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire capable of enhancing the durability by reducing abrupt rigidity difference. SOLUTION: The pneumatic tire 1 has an annular core material 6 in which a cord is continuously wound as jointless at the angle of substantially 0 degree with respect to the tire circumferential direction on the outer circumferential side of a carcass layer 2 on the inner side in the tire radial direction of a tread part 5. The cord or a rubber-covered cord is spirally wound around the annular core material 6 at a predetermined angle with respect to the tire circumferential direction. A protective belt layer 8 in which the cord or the rubber-covered cord is annularly wound in an inclined manner at a predetermined angle with respect to the tire circumferential direction is provided on the outer side in the tire radial direction of a loop belt layer 7. The cord of the annular core material 6 or the cord used for the loop belt layer 7 is preferably a member (a high-elongation cord) with the elongation at a tensile load of 150-200 N being 2.0-3.5%.
