PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gluing apparatus capable of exactly controlling rapid decrease of a level of a liquid glue surface with a simple structure and to provide a single facer or a glue machine in a corrugating machine using it. SOLUTION: In the gluing apparatus 4 having a pair of glue dams 8 movable in accordance with paper width of core paper or a liner and a gluing roll 5 supplying the glue stored in a liquid glue vessel 6 made by the glue dams 8 to the top of the corrugated core paper, the gluing apparatus 4 has a liquid glue surface retaining means retaining the surface of the glue while keeping the same volume of the liquid glue vessel 6 as that before broadening in case of broadening the glue dams 8 accompanying the change of the paper width.
