<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type vehicular head lamp comprising a light distribution switching mechanism having a simple configuration capable of switching light distributions with different heights and shapes of cut lines by causing two light-blocking shades to slide in parallel vertically. <P>SOLUTION: The two light-blocking shades 134, 234 extending in a horizontal direction are positioned fore-and-aft and side to side with a slide guide (guide grooves 44, 46, a pin 72 and oblong holes 137, 237) near a focal point of a projector lens 28 disposed at the front of a reflector 26 equipped with a light source 24, and the shades are linked by linkage means (eccentric cams 236A, 36B) for sliding action in a vertical direction (parallel movement). The shade 134 moves upward to form a low beam for a left-side light distribution, the shade 234 moves upward to form a low beam for a right-side light distribution, and the shades 134, 234 move greatly downward relative to the optical axis to form a high beam. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
