<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide embedding and extraction of watermark information which is capable of suppressing deterioration in a character while embedding information of more watermark information for one character than in conventional technique. <P>SOLUTION: An image input unit 101 inputs a document image, a document analyzing unit 102 extracts the feature point of the character of the document image inputted by the unit 102, and an embedding unit 106 embeds an electronic watermark into the feature point.
