PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a magnetic recording medium which is effectively reduced in the occurrence of a signal error due to a shape change arising from the distortion by pressure. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium 1 is formed with a magnetic layer on at least one principal surface of a long-sized nonmagnetic support and is applied to a linear scan type magnetic recording and reproducing system, wherein the shape of a terminal side 1a connecting with a reel hub 30 is not perpendicularly cut to a longitudinal direction and makes a sharp angle with a traveling direction.
