PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processor which makes it possible to reduce user's setting by automatic registration of digital recording appliances which are network connected, and also provide its control method. SOLUTION: The signal processor comprises; a means 61 to detect that a predetermined trigger for registration of digital recording appliances 25 and 27 connected to a network is given; the means 61 to retrieve digital recording appliances 25 and 27 connected to the network when the predetermined trigger is given; and the means 61 to register the retrieved digital recording appliances 25 and 27.
