PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a submerged breakwater without using a large-sized concrete structure while enhancing a wave dissipating effect of a double reef at a spot where the water depth of the crown is comparatively deep. SOLUTION: In the submerged breakwater 1, a front block 10 of L-shaped cross section is installed on a lower stage reef 3 formed of riprap, and riprap 12 or concrete blocks are thrown in behind the front block 10. Crown blocks 11 are installed on the riprap 12 to form an upper stage reef 2, and a rear mound 20 is formed behind the upper stage reef 2 to form the double reef. The double reef of high wave dissipating performance can be constructed at a low cost without using the large-sized concrete structure. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
