PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressed wood product capable of holding high strength even if wood being a raw material is reduced in thickness and suitable as the facing material of a small-sized portable electronic device. SOLUTION: A reinforcing material comprising a large number of fibers containing a wood fiber component such as cellulose or the like is arranged on the surface of wood to be processed so as to be uniformly turned in the direction crossing the fiber direction of the wood to be processed, more preferably in the direction almost crossing the fiber direction of the wood at a right angle.
