PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance functionality associated with the preview screen display of an image forming apparatus, by a simple change. SOLUTION: In an operation control part 100, a preview screen display device 140, which includes an LCD 3 for preview image display, a power supply device 130 and another preview screen display control part, is detachably attached to an image forming apparatus body 10 via a connector 120. Image data read by a scanner are transmitted to the device 140 from a main body control part 11 via a communication line 107, and a preview image is displayed on the LCD 3. Even under the suspension of the body 10, when the browsing of the image data, stored on the side of the main body, and the like are requested, display data are transmitted from the control part 11, and displayed on the LCD 3. In a state wherein the display device 140 is detached, the image forming apparatus simply loses a preview display function, and can perform an ordinary copying operation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
