PURPOSE:To obtain an aqueous cleansing agent having good feeling in use, high cleansing effects, excellent stability with time and skin safety, containing a specific nonionic surface active agent and cetostearyl alcohol. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous cleansing agent containing (A) 0.1-10wt.% nonionic surface active agent having >=12 HLB value, such as polyoxyethylene sorbitan fatty acid ester, sucrose fatty acid ester or polyoxyethylene alkyl ether and (B) 0.1-10wt.% cetostearyl alcohol, a mixture of higher aliphatic alcohols, such as a mixture of cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol in a ratio of 4:1-1:4. Further the agent may be optionally mixed with water-soluble components such as water-soluble high polymer, humectant, alcohol, antiseptic, and a very small amount of perfume, dyestuff, etc.
