The method involves extruding a hollow section from an ethylene propylene diene rubber. Electrically conducting regions are formed in an internal surface of the section by co-extrusion for forming two spaced apart electrodes. Recesses are arranged in the section such that the electrical conductivity of the electrodes is maintained. Non-conducting material is filled in gaps (30a, 30b) provided along the breadth of the section. An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting an obstacle in the opening area of a closing unit e.g. window pane, with a hollow section, or of a trunk deck of a motor vehicle. |
