<p>Functionalised polymer or contact adhesive containing functionalised polymer(s) with a high content of functional/crosslinkable monomer units and a special mol. wt. distribution in which the difference between peak mol. wt. and minimum mol. wt. is preferably less than 15000. Functionalised polymer or contact adhesive (I) comprising at least one functionalised polymer with a wt.-average mol. wt. (M w) of 5000-200000, preferably 10000-100000, and a difference between M-p and M-min of less than 25000, preferably less than 15000, in which (a) M-p is the peak mol. wt. of a monomodal polymer or of the smallest mode in a bi- or multi-modal polymer, (b) M-min is the lowest mol. wt. in the mol. wt. distribution (MWD), i.e. the point at which the cumulative frequency of the MWD has a value of 0.05, (c) the polymer has a linear, branched or stellar structure, (d) the polymer has at least one type of functionalisation which can be used for subsequent crosslinking, (e) at least 50% of the polymer chains carry at least two functionalisations, (f) at least 75% of the polymer chains have at least one functionalisation and (g) at least one type of functionalisation arises from the use of at least one type of functional monomer in the production of the polymer. Independent claims are also included for functionalised polymer or adhesive (I) comprising block copolymer(s) as above, in which (c) the polymer has a linear, branched, stellar or grafted structure# a method for the production of contact adhesive material (I) by making a functionalised polymer as above by a controlled-radical, quasi-living radical or living radical polymerisation process and then crosslinking the polymer# self-adhesive products containing (I).</p> |
