PURPOSE:To improve durability and preservable stability by incorporating at least >=1 kinds of antioxidants into a high-polymer liquid crystal compsn. CONSTITUTION:At least >=1 kinds of the antioxidants are incorporated into the high-polymer liquid crystal compsn. contg. at least >=1 kinds of high-polymer liquid crystalline compsns. A ferroelectric high-polymer liquid crystal is used or the high-polymer liquid crystal compsn. prepd. mixing the low-molecular ferroelectric liquid crystal with the high-polymer liquid crystalline compsn. is adequately used in order to obtain sufficiently high-speed responsiveness. Contribution can be made to the low-molecular crystallinity and the high-speed responsiveness and high orientability of a liquid crystal element by using the optically active high-polymer liquid crystalline compsn. in particularly in the mixed system of the high-polymer liquid crystalline compsn. and the low- molecular liquid crystalline compsn. In addition, the dispersion of the antioxidants to be added is good and therefore, the effect thereof is high. The contrast ratio of the recording and displaying, the stability of the response speed with age and the durability are thereby improved.
