摘要 PURPOSE: To shorten the time required for starting or stopping an engine by designing in such a manner as to provide an operative piston to be actuated by air pressure because of a relief valve housed in the coupling duct between the high and low pressure sides of a pump and the action of the relief valve to keep the medium away from its seat. CONSTITUTION: A relief valve 30 installed at the upper end of a top cover has a center duct 31 which is connected with the high-pressure duct of the top cover. The center duct communicates with the fuel system on the return side and a suction chamber beyond the connection part of an annular chamber of the top cover by way of an inclined side duct 32. The center duct 31 houses a valve seat 35 and cooperates with a valve body 36 which can be displaced and which is acted upon by a spring 37 in the direction toward the valve seat. The end face 44 communicates with an opening 45 for the pressurized fluid in such a manner that, on the opposite side of the valve body 36 of the valve seat 35, one end of the operative piston 41 is in contact with the valve body 36, that the valve body 36 is acted upon in the direction away from the valve seat 35 and that the other end is closed within the housing 43.
