METHOD FOR ULTRASONIC DIAGNOSIS OF RETROBULBAR NEURITIS

The method for ultrasonic diagnosis of the retrobulbar neuritis provides for measuring the thickness of the retrobulbar segment of the optic nerve in three points: at the site where the nerve leaves the eyeball and at the distance of 5 and 200 mm from the eyeball. The structure of the optic nerve is assessed in comparison with the normal ultrasonic parameters. The increase in the thickness of the nerve in the points stated above and inhomogeneity of its structure suggest the retrobulbar neuritis.
