Exothermic rod for underwater cutting of metals consists of the metal tube having a length of up to 500 mm, inside which, along its length, the elements are located made of material burning in oxygen with high specific heat of combustion. Tube bore is 10-18 mm, the elements, which burn in oxygen, are the cartridges, height of which is not more than their two diameters, pressed from the powders materials, burning in oxygen with high specific heat of combustion. In this case, said cartridges are connected together in such a manner that the end section of the previous cartridge is connected with major portion of the next cartridge forming a continuous rod.
