The Z-profile beam (1) incorporates intermittent fixed connections (8) extending between its body (6) and its lower flange (7). The horizontal distance between the connection contact points (18) on the lower flange and the beam body is sufficiently large to enable an effective concrete moulding to be made between the beam body and the ends on joists positioned directly outside the contact points (18). - This produces a static interaction between the steel beam and the concrete, with the requisite thrust force transmission between steel and concrete being carried by the connections. |
