The present invention concerns a paper sheet cutting apparatus (C) for cutting a front end portion opposite to a folded portion of a booklet (SA) finished by a center folding processing, and an image forming apparatus equipped with such sheet cutting apparatus. The sheet cutting apparatus has a conveying device (100) for conveying the booklet (SA), a stopping device (221) for stopping the booklet (SA) at a predetermined position, a cutting device (300) for cutting the front end portion of the booklet (SA), and a controlling section (90) to control each of the conveying device (100), the stopping device (221) and the cutting device (300). The controlling section (90) is adapted to control the stopping device (221) so as to variably determine a stopping position of the booklet (SA) stopped by the stopping device (221), based on a number of sheets (S) included in the booklet (SA) conveyed to the cutting device (300) by the conveying device (100).
