PURPOSE:To improve the durability of a bearing unit by setting the inside diameter of an oil sump member disposed in an outer race of the bearing unit smaller than the outside diameter of an inner race to form an oil sump. CONSTITUTION:In an automatic transmission, rotary member 5 is supported on a case support wall 2a through a bearing unit 3. An oil sump member 4 is disposed in an outer race 9 of the bearing unit 3, the inside diameter (d) thereof is set smaller than the outside diameter D of an inner race 14a, and an oil sump (f) for a rolling element 13a is formed in the inner periphery of the outer race 9. Lubricating oil from a supply port 8a is guided to the rolling element 13a of the bearing unit 3 and stored in the inner peripheral portion of the outer race 9 without being scattered by the centrifugal force of the oil sump member 4, so that both sliding contact surfaces on the outside diameter side and on the inside diameter side of the rolling element 13a are soaked by lubricating oil in the oil sump (f) and always lubricated surely. Thus, the durability and reliability of the bearing unit can be improved. |
