PURPOSE:To obtain high speed recording aptitude and sufficient developed color density by providing a thermal color forming layer containing a compound represented by a specific compositional formula, a leuco dye and an acidic substance on a support. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording material is prepared by respectively dispersing a leuco dye and a coupler in a fine particulate form and subsequently mixing both of them and adding an additive represented by formula 1 [X1, X2, X3, Y1, Y2 and Y3 are hydrogen, alkyl, nitro, halogen or alkoxy and R1 is alkylene, CmH2m-Z-CnH2m (wherein m and n are an integer of 1 - 6 and Z is O or S), a group represented by formula 2 (wherein R2 is hydrogen, alkyl, nitro or halogen), a group represented by formula 3 {wherein R3 is (CH2)l (l is an integer of 1 - 6), a group represented by formula 4, SO2, O or S), biphenyl which may have a substituent or (CH2)a=(CH2)b (a and b are an integer of 1 - 6)] and, if necessary, other additives to the resulting mixture to obtain a thermal recording layer coating solution and applying said coating solution to a support such as paper, synthetic paper or a plastic film to dry the same. |
