FIELD: manufacture of freely connected parts such as chains. ^ SUBSTANCE: first separate links of chains are cast together. Model unit on which gasified models are arranged vertically and in fan-shaped pattern around central pouring gate is set in place. Each pair of chain link model is set an angle ±beta relative to radial plane of casting box-container. Then links cast preliminarily are placed in model unit at two or more levels. Each level of links is laid at alternation of angles +alpha and -alpha relative to plane of casting box-container. After filling casting box with sand, chain is cast. ^ EFFECT: low cost of equipment; reduced mass of casting box; reduced amount of sand; enhanced yield of good articles; reduction of expenses by 5 to 11%. ^ 4 dwg
