PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method enabling the colors of a proof image to highly approximate to the color of a printed image. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 uses a first profile in which the relation between image data and the printed image is associated and expressed, and a second profile in which the relation between the image data and the proof image is associated and expressed to adjust the colors of the proof image. The apparatus 1 is provided with a profile creating means for creating any one of the first and second profiles from a colorimetry result to be acquired in geometric conditions of two or more different colorimetries.
