PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state imaging apparatus, drive method thereof, manufacturing method thereof, and camera system which realize suppression of production of a white spot by reducing the effect of a dark current produced in an electric charge transfer region on a video signal. SOLUTION: The drive method includes the steps of: operating a read gate section 12 to read out signal electric charges in a photodiode 10 to a vertical transfer section 11 (Figure (b)); operating the vertical transfer section 11 to transfer the signal electric charges by one pixel in the vertical direction (Figure (c)); operating the read gate section 12 to return the signal electric charges to the photodiode 10 (Figure (d)) and thereafter horizontally transferring the signal electric charges toward an output section 14 (Figure (e)); again reading out the signal electric charges in the photodiode 10 to the vertical transfer section 11; and repeating the steps expressed in Figures (c) to (e) above.
