PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel (PDP) improved in discharge efficiency and luminance. SOLUTION: This PDP is provided with: a first substrate 110 and a second substrate 120 for forming a discharge space by keeping a predetermined distance between them; first electrode pairs 113a and 113b formed on the inside surface of the first substrate 110 by being separated from each other at a predetermined distance for generating mutual discharge; and second electrode pairs 114a and 114b arranged in parallel with the first electrode pairs 113a and 113b and arranged by being separated from the second substrate 120 at a predetermined distance for generating mutual discharge. By thus adding the second discharge sustaining electrodes 114a and 114b on the second substrate 120 side to the first discharge sustaining electrodes 113a and 113b on the first substrate 110, the PDP having excellent characteristics for discharge efficiency and luminance can be provided.
