PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens drive unit which can be made small, and can realize accurate detection of the reference position of a lens even when the unit is abnormally ended. SOLUTION: A DC motor (19) as a lens driving means is driven so that a zoom lens holding frame (15) for holding a zoom lens goes toward a sensor (33), and a focus lens holding frame (13) is moved with the contact of the zoom lens holding frame (15), and the position of the zoom lens when it is detected by the sensor (33) that the focus lens holding frame (13) reaches the reference position is detected as the reference position of the zoom lens.
