PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt mounting tool and a belt mounting method capable of rapidly performing belt mounting operation even when a pulley cannot be easily rotated. SOLUTION: This belt mounting tool 4 comprises a tool body 10 disposed on the radial outer side of the pulley 3 and rotatable about the rotating axis 3b of the pulley 3, a pulley guide 11 extending from the tool body 10 to one surface of the pulley 3, a belt holding part 20 extending along the outer peripheral part of the pulley 3, a belt support part 21 extending from the belt holding part 20 aslant to the radial inner side of the pulley 3 on the other surface side of the pulley 3, and a guide part 22 projected from the belt support part 21 along the other surface of the pulley 3. The belt holding part 20 is rotated in the circumferential direction by rotating the tool body 10 to engage the V-rib of the belt 1 supported on the belt support part 21 with the pulley groove of the pulley 3.
