摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing adjusting device having high responsiveness of phase control to a timing advance side irrespective of torque fluctuation and preventing increase in the number of components and complication of a structure. SOLUTION: When "positive torque" received by a cam shaft 20 to a timing delay side due to torque fluctuation exceeds a threshold value T, supply of working fluid to each of timing delay oil pressure chambers or timing advance oil pressure chambers and discharge from each of the timing delay oil pressure chambers or the timing advance oil pressure chambers are blocked. Due to this, when the "positive torque" is large, a vane rotor 30 is never pressed back to the timing delay side due to torque fluctuation, and rotational speed of the vane rotor 30 at the time of phase control to the timing advance side is improved. Therefore, responsiveness of the phase control can be improved. Connection/disconnection between a first timing delay passage 22 and a second timing delay passage and a first timing advance passage 23 and a second timing advance passage is performed by rotation of the cam shaft 20.
