PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the manufacturing quality and the yielding ratio in melting metallic ingots and materials for recycling by suppressing the generation of oxides in melting the ingots and holding the molten metal. SOLUTION: The closed type melting furnace is composed of an ingot melting bath 7 which is inserted into a closed crucible 4 having a furnace lid 2 from an ingot melting bath aperture 5 protrusively arranged on the furnace lid 2, and is closed to an upper open space by an ingot charging port shutter 10, and a receiving case 13 which encloses an ingot charging mechanism 21 and is closed by covering the upper open space above the ingot charging port shutter 10. The ingot 20 is charged into the ingot melting bath 7 sealed to the outside from a preliminarily pressure reduced storage case 13. As a result, the ingot can be melted in the melting bath 7 without being brought into contact with the atmosphere, and oxides are not generated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
