PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state image pickup device for preventing any crack from being generated in a transparent glass board, and for preventing any abnormal ray of light from being made incident to a solid-state image pickup device. SOLUTION: This solid-state image pickup device is provided with a ceramic substrate 1 having a recess 3 on the upper face, a solid-state image pickup element 1 fixed to the bottom face of the recess 3, a metallic frame body 5 brazed to the periphery of the recess 3 on the upper face of the ceramic substrate 1, a metallic board 6 whose outer periphery is welded to the upper face of the metallic frame body 5 and whose central part is formed with a window 7, and a transparent glass board 8 connected through a low melting point glass 9a to the upper face of the metallic board 6 so that the window 7 can be closed. The metallic board 6 is formed so that the outer peripheral part can be made thinner than the central part, and a ceramic frame body 10 having an opening at the central part is joined through the low melting point glass 9b to the lower face.
