PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver in which the probability for enabling a user to listen to voice or to view a video image is higher than a conventional one, when receiving state fluctuates, and which gives a much higher satisfaction level to the user, as compared with the conventional receivers. SOLUTION: The receiver has a receiving part for receiving a data stream containing digital voice data, a demodulator, which detects a synchronization signal from a digital stream, demodulates the digital voice data by detecting them, and outputs the demodulated digital voice data by executing error correction decoding on them; and a signal processing unit, which mutes the digital voice data and does not output them, when the demodulator cannot be synchronously locked, outputs the digital voice data, as they are, when the demodulator is synchronously locked and the error rate of the digital voice data is below a prescribed value, and executes prescribed processings on the digital voice data so as to weaken a stimulus applied to the hearing sense of humans, by the digital voice data, when the demodulator is synchronously locked and the error rate of the digital voice data is higher than a prescribed value.
