PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery control device that can control the calorific value of a battery in accordance with a temperature of the battery while keeping the output power of the battery at required power, and a battery temperature control method. SOLUTION: A control part 4 controls the charging and discharging of the battery 1 so that the SOC of the battery 1 is included in a first SOC region when the temperature of the battery 1 is below a prescribed temperature, and when the temperature of the battery 1 is not lower than the prescribed temperature, the control part controls the charging and discharging of the battery 1 so that the SOC of the battery 1 is included in a second SOC region that is higher than the first SOC region in temperature. By this, an average voltage of the battery 1 becomes higher when the temperature of the battery is not lower than the prescribed temperature compared with a time when the temperature of the battery is below the prescribed temperature. An inverter 6 changes a current obtained from the battery 1 in accordance with a voltage of the battery 1, and obtains power from the battery 1 that is indicated by necessary power information received by an accelerator 5.
