PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method and a manufacturing device of an envelope capable of evacuating a space between substrates without generating dead strokes there. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the envelope forms an airtight vessel by interposing supporting frames 86 between sealing peripheral edge parts of a pair of plates 81, 82 in an atmosphere of reduced pressure. The method has a process of bending and separating the peripheral edge part of the face plate 82 from the support frame 86 in an atmosphere of reduced pressure before sealing.
