PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost piston for a riveting machine capable of insuring an orthogonal alignment of the piston shaft with the piston head without requiring the cost. SOLUTION: The piston for the riveting machine of expansion gas driving type has the piston head 11 and piston shaft 12 coupled together at their boundary surface 13, where at least one butting surface 14 and its counter-surface 15 are formed on the piston head 11 and the piston shaft 12, respectively, wherein the butting surface 14 and its counter-surface 15 are formed from surfaces bounding tapered regions as thinning toward the forefronts complementing each other approximately, for example surfaces in a conical or spherical form. It is favorable that the butting surface 14 and the counter-surface 15 are inclined at an angle of 10°-80°to a plane 19 parallel with the piston head 11. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
