PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle device of a machine tool, having high durability, maintaining stable machining accuracy and flexibly coping with precise machining by solving the problem of heat generation at high-speed rotation of an oil hydrostatic bearing in a non-contact bearing as a bearing of a spindle and the problem of low bearing rigidity at low-speed rotation of a pneumatic hydrostatic bearing. SOLUTION: In this spindle device 6 of the machine tool, a hydrostatic bearing 17 supporting the spindle in the radial direction or in the axial direction is used as a bearing rotatably supporting the spindle 7 on the spindle head, an oil feed solenoid valve 1 is provided for switching to the oil hydrostatic bearing when the spindle 7 is rotated at low speed, an air supply solenoid valve 2 is provided for switching to the pneumatic hydrostatic bearing when the spindle is rotated at high speed, switching between the oil supply solenoid valve 1 and the air supply solenoid valve 2 is performed according to machining to enable the proper use of oil and air in the same pipeline 9.
