PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording device and an electrostatic charge control method in the device wherein it is not inhibited to select an appropriate head gap, and the normal flight of an ink drop is not disturbed by dielectric polarization in recording paper, a sub-doplet (satellite) is hard to generate, high-quality recording is performed, and there is no risk that the contamination of the recording head discharging surface may be caused. SOLUTION: The inkjet recording device allows an electric charge holding roller 15 charged to a reverse polarity to an electrostatic attraction carrying belt 8 to roll and contact on a back surface side range of a predetermined range corresponding to the surface range of immediately below the recording head 12 of the electrostatic attraction carrying belt 8 so as to diminish dielectric polarization in the recording paper 2 caused by the charge of the electrostatic attraction carrying belt 8, and makes the size of a nip 155 caused at the roll contact part of the electric charge holding roller 15 correspond to the back surface side range of the predetermined range.
