PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal reproducing apparatus and a signal reproducing method with a navigation function which enables a user to easily manage programs recorded in a plurality of picture recorders connected and to quickly search and reproduce a desired recorded program. SOLUTION: The apparatus and method are for selectively recording a program reproduced from an input signal in a plurality of picture recorders (19, 25, 27, 28, 33, 34, 36 to 39, 41, and 42), each of which is connected to enable input and output of information in a predetermined information transmission mode, wherein information indicating programs recorded in the plurality of picture recorders (19, 25, 27, 28, 33, 34, 36 to 39, 41, and 42) are displayed in a list by a preset predetermined number dating back from the most recently recorded program.
