<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer enabling the timing of calibration to be controlled according to the kind of printing or requirements of users. <P>SOLUTION: It is judged with the presence or absence of a checking mark whether each calibration of color-gap correction and tone calibration concerning the printing conditions such as K (black) only, or with/without image shall be performed. For the item with the presence of a checking mark, a calibration flag is set to 1. When receiving a printing job, a printing of one page is performed. If the number of printing sheets has been over 200, the state of the calibration flag concerning the printing job is checked. If the state flag shows 1, the calibration is performed.
