PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a panel for a planar display device capable of appropriately distributing light emitting material to respective cells and appropriately guiding the gas utilized for light emission to respective cells. SOLUTION: The panel for the planar display device 1 has a substrate 2. On the main face of the substrate 2, a plurality of line-shaped first barrier ribs 31 extending in y-direction are arrayed with a prescribed pitch in x-direction perpendicular to y-direction, and a plurality of line-shaped second barrier ribs 32 extending in x-direction are arrayed with a prescribed pitch in y-direction. The plurality of second barrier ribs 32 form a gap 4 between adjacent two first barrier ribs 31 and between itself and the substrate 2 respectively, and the cells adjacent in y-direction are jointed by the gap 4 respectively. By the above, the light emitting material can be appropriately distributed to respective cells by using the gap 4, and the gas utilized for light emission can be appropriately guided to respective cells, on the panel.
