PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform a user of the detected weight of a material to be cooked by providing a suitable display in a rice cooker. SOLUTION: With the top opening part of the rice cooker body covered with a lid to be freely opened and closed, a pot is heated by a heating means. The weight of the pot is stored in a pot weight storage means, and when a lid opening and closing detection means for detecting the opening and closing of the lid detects the opening of the lid and a pot detection means for detecting the existence/absence of the pot detects the absence of the pot, an output value of a weight detection means for for detecting the total weight of the pot and the weight of the material to be cooked is stored taking the value in no-load as a zero value in the storage means. When no new zero value is still stored in a zero value storage means and a rice quantity calculation means calculates the quantity of rice after heating the heating means, a display other than the quantity of rice is made on the display means, and when the zero value is stored, the rice quantity calculation means again calculates the rice quantity and displays the calculation result.
