PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a firing furnace for a carbon fiber, preventing a solid and liquid-mixed foreign matter caused by a generated gas from dropping on a strand when carbonizing the flame-resistant fiber strand traveling in the firing furnace for the carbon fiber, and stably carrying out the carbonization by preventing the pollution, breakage and deterioration of the strand. SOLUTION: The firing furnace for the carbon fiber for carbonizing the flame-resistant fiber strand traveling in the firing furnace for the carbon fiber in an inert gas atmosphere has a strand-introducing part (A) having a height of a ceiling gradually increased in the strand traveling direction and a length of≥1/50 of the length of the firing furnace for the carbon fiber from the inlet terminal of the strand, a main part (B) formed so as to be continued to the (A), and having a constant height of the ceiling in the strand-traveling direction, and an exhaustion port (C) installed in the ceiling of the (B).
