PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-propelled cleaner equipped with a video camera, without making a user worried about a wrong operation or the wrongly taken video by the wrong operation when the video camera is not used. SOLUTION: The self-propelled cleaner comprises the video camera 30 capable of taking video of the periphery, a shifting means for shifting the state of the video camera 30 to a state in which an opening 30A of the video camera 30 is exposed from the upper surface of the device or to a state in which the video camera 30 is stored in the upper surface of the device, a detection means for detecting the shifted state of the video camera 30 based on a video signal taken by the video camera 30, an announcing means for announcing that it is impossible for the video camera 30 to take video of the periphery, and a control means for making the detection means detect the shifted state by the shifting means when a monitoring process for the video camera 30 to take video of the periphery is started and actuating the announcing means if it is detected that the taking video of the periphery is impossible.
