Screws engage for adjustment purposes in the lugs and also in a hoop which holds the head in position. A clamp (15) engages over the tension screws and is made of an elastomer material, being arranged in the tension device (6). The clamp has a multi-sided inner recess which engages over a corresp. multi-sided extension (19) of the threaded socket (10) enclosing the tension screw (13). The clamp, after the drum head has been relaxed by the tension screws, releases from a tension angle and thereby loses its braking effect on the tension screws. The clamp piece and the recess are four-sided.
