The toothbrush is either assembled of a unit of hollow handle (1) and shaft (2) to be combined with an exchangeable bristle head (3) or of a separate upper area of shaft and bristle head and a hollow handle to be joined. Toothpaste can be conveyed from the container (6) accommodated in the handle (1) through a duct (5, 5.1) to the bristle area (3) by pressing a button (22) with an integrated pumping mechanism (4). The mechanism (4) comprises an elastic membrane with two elastic elements causing the toothpaste to move from the container (6) to a pressure area, from the pressure area to the bristle head (3) respectively.
