A plurality of pistons are slidably provided in cylinders (114) to (120) of an engine (100) respectively. The engine (100) includes a plurality of connection pipes (130 - 136) connecting cylinders successively experiencing combustion to each other during operation of engine (100), a plurality of opening-closing valves (122 - 128) for setting each of connection pipes (130 - 136) to a connected state or a closed state, and an ECU (200) for controlling the plurality of opening-closing valves (122 - 128) such that the piston is stopped at a predetermined position when the operation of the engine (100) is stopped.
