PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bookbinding apparatus capable of suppressing a leakage of a volatile component of an adhesive to be a cause of nasty smell and decreasing an uncomfortable feeling given to surrounding workers and workers interchanging a deodorizing filter.

SOLUTION: The bookbinding apparatus 100 can be connected to an image forming apparatus 101, and a plurality of sheets outputted from the image forming apparatus 101 are stuck with an adhesive 300 to bind a book. An adhesive heater 302 heats the adhesive 300, and a temperature sensor 301 detects the temperature of the adhesive 300. An adhesive temperature controlling part 303 controls the heating temperature of the adhesive 300 by the adhesive heater 302 based on the temperature and a target temperature of the adhesive detected by the temperature sensor 301. When the adhesive temperature controlling part 303 receives an indication that the temperature of the adhesive 300 from the image forming apparatus 101 is made to be a specified temperature lower than the target temperature, the adhesive temperature controlling part 303 controls the heating temperature of the adhesive 300 by the adhesive heater 302 so that the temperature of the adhesive 300 becomes a specified temperature or lower which is lower than the target temperature.
