PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a rate of character recognition by improving elimination performance of magnetic noise. SOLUTION: A composite processing apparatus 1 is provided with: a MICR 13 for detecting a magnetic ink character on a check sheet CK to generate a magnetic detection signal; a magnetic noise data generating part 73a for accumulating magnetic detection signals at a point of time when the check sheet CK does not pass the MICR 13 to generate magnetic noise data; and a magnetic noise eliminating part 73b for eliminating the magnetic noise by subtracting the magnetic noise data from the magnetic detection signal.
