PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition and a molded article thereof excellent in flame retardancy. SOLUTION: The resin composition comprises a resin and at least one iodine-containing compound selected from the group consisting of a silyl group-containing iodinated epoxy compound represented by formula (1) and an iodinated phthalimide compound represented by formula (3). In formula (1), A denotes a bivalent group represented by formula (2); R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>each independently denote an alkyl group or an alkoxy group which may have a substituent; p denotes an integer of 0-12; and q denotes an integer of 1-12, wherein p and q satisfy the condition represented by 1≤p+q≤12. In formula (2), I denotes an iodine atom; and m and n each independently denote an integer of 1 or 2.
