<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for cracking of hydrocarbons which exerts excellent catalyst activity even in a low-temperature reaction, in steam reforming comprising mixing methane-based lower hydrocarbons with water vapor to react, because of fine particles of nickel and ruthenium metals supported on the particle of the catalyst and also has excellent coking resistance even under low-steam conditions and excellent durability. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst comprises magnesium, aluminum, nickel and ruthenium. The average particle size of particles of ruthenium metal is 1-10 nm, and the content of the ruthenium metal is 0.025-5.0 wt.% to the amount of the catalyst and 0.0001-0.025 to the sum of moles of aluminum, nickel and ruthenium. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
