<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording and reproducing apparatus capable of efficiently recording or transmitting a moving picture and a high definition still picture at the same time. <P>SOLUTION: A moving picture signal as a basic layer and a high definition still picture signal as an extended layer whose number of pixels is greater than that of the moving picture signal are multiplexed, and when a frame rate of the consecutive high definition still picture signals is lower than a frame rate of the moving picture signals, control codes are inserted to a multiplexed stream so that the frame rate of the high definition still picture signals is the same as or more than the frame rate of the moving picture signals. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
